Who: Lauren Schatz From: Starfire Optical Range Title: [13:00 CE.0.18] - Overview of basic research programs at Starfire Optical Range Where: CE.0.18 Time: 13:00:00 Duration: 30 Abstract: Starfire Optical Range (SOR), is a small observatory located at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, USA, specializing in Space Situational Awareness (SSA) detection, tracking, and characterization of satellites. SOR researchers pioneered laser guide star adaptive optics (LGS-AO) by developing and demonstrating the world’s first laser beacon system, which allows for AO high-resolution imaging over almost all of the night sky. In this talk, we present an overview of ongoing basic research programs at SOR, including the development of next generation laser guide stars, new wavefront sensors, and high-contrast imaging of GEO satellites.
